This act of madness has doomed the Labour Party to certain defeat at the
upcoming election!

The conservatives will dump it as soon as they are in.

"In scientific circles, C02 is referred to as a `trace gas’ that, for
hundreds of thousands of years, has remained at or below five
ten-thousandths of the atmosphere by volume.  Even among the so-called
`greenhouse gases’ (GHG), C02 accounts for less than 4%, with water
vapour being by far the most significant GHG.  C02 is clearly a
miniscule component of the massive mechanisms that create climate and
cause climate change."

More ABC Booga-Booga

September 11 2008

Here’s how the ABC’s 7.30 Report last night started yet another alarmist
report on global warming, this time hypeing up the threat to our coastal
towns:

As Hurricane Ike bears down on Cuba and New Orleans recovers from the
devastation caused by its second hurricane in three years, the serenity
of South Gippsland on Victoria’s east coast seems a world away. But the
issue of climate change, rising sea levels and the increasing frequency
and severity of storms, is blowing an ill wind here as well.

Note the blithe link to the hurricanes off the US, as if they were
evidence of global warming and "the increasing frequency and severity of
storms".

Fact 1: New Orleans has not just faced "devastation caused by its second
hurricane in three years". Hurricane Gustav in fact petered out into a
category one storm by the time it got there. Damage was light.

Fact 2: Hurricane Ike is a category two storm – not particular strong,
given the scale tops out at five, and not particulary unusual for this
time of year.

Fact 3: There is no proven link between global warming and hurricane
activity, and no agreed trend in hurricane activity – and no increase in
cyclone activity off Australia, either.

Dangerous Human-Caused Warming Can Neither Be Demonstrated Nor Measured

Dangerous Human-Caused Warming Can Neither Be Demonstrated Nor Measured

John Nicol

September 10 2008

There is no evidence, either empirical or theoretical, that carbon
dioxide emissions from industrial and other human activities can have
any effect on global climate.

In addition, the claims so often made that there is a consensus among
climate scientists that global warming is the result of increased
man-made emissions of CO2, has no basis in fact.

The results of accurate measurements of global temperatures continue to
be analysed by the international laboratories, now with 30 years
experience in this process while a large number of scientists continue
to perform high quality research.  The results of these activities
clearly demonstrate a wide range of errors in the IPCC projections.

Among the more obvious of these errors was the prediction of global
warming expected by modelling of climate for the last three years.  The
actual measurements of global cooling in 2007/2008, flew directly in the
face of these IPCC models.

It would be difficult to find a more definitive illustration of an
experimental error.

However, the claim of a consensus continues to be used in efforts to
attract attention away from the lack of verifiable evidence, in a final
desperate attempt to support the hypothesis that anthropogenic carbon
dioxide is responsible for global warming.

In the past, verifiable and reproducible evidence was required before
acknowledgement of a scientific truth.

In regard to global warming, this principle has been replaced by a
process involving a majority vote.

The fundamental requirement of reproducible evidence, has been lost in
the process of promulgating the messages regarding the output from the
experimental computer models providing suggestions of global warming for
the IPCC reports.

No two of these 23 models provide the same values of temperature – the
results are not reproducible.

That human-caused global climate change is so small that it cannot yet
be differentiated from natural changes, has not been accepted.

Rather our governments are being subjected to calls to provide policies
based on unsubstantiated assertions of largely non-scientific executives
of the IPCC, who ignore the uncertainties expressed in the main
scientific reports of the International Panel.

Evidence that no changes have been observed in Monsoonal activity, snow
in the Himalayas, the rate of glacial retreat and the rise of sea level
is conveniently ignored or presented as perceived evidence of "change".

Alarming reports are presented of the many natural processes of glacial
cracking, ponding of water in the Arctic Ice and the common and
repetitive droughts in the drier continents of Australia, America and
Africa while insufficient attention is given to the many benefits of
increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide, which forms the basis for plant
growth through photosynthesis.

In summary, the future global and local climate is as uncertain as it
has always been.

Multi-decadal warming, cooling trends and abrupt changes, will continue
to occur.

Appropriate climate related policies are needed that, first, closely
monitor change; and, secondly, respond and adapt to deleterious climatic
events in the same way that we already approach hazardous natural events
such as droughts, storms and earthquakes.

Measures include appropriate mitigation of undesirable socio-economic
effects and other economic stresses resulting from changes of the world’s
climate.

The best scientific advice available at present is to "Follow the Sun".

Adaptation to climate change will not be aided by imprudent
restructuring of the world’s energy economy in pursuit of the mitigation
of an alleged "dangerous human-caused warming" that can neither be
demonstrated nor measured.

King Coal For A Long, Long Time!!!

10 Apr 2008

"Just one indicator of the direction of things is that coal-sales ticker
over at the Web site of Peabody Energy, the world’s largest private coal
company.

It reels off sales at about 8 tons a second, by my estimate.

As of 2 p.m. today Peabody had sold 65,246,061 tons so far this year."

Doing Nothing Really Is Cheaper!!

September 11 2008

Terry McCrann is just as puzzled by Kevin Rudd’s global warming guru –
and his refusal to face up to his own logic:

Ross Garnaut’s Targets and Trajectories draft report, launched by our
national ‘climate reviewer’ last Friday, gains that veneer of
Kissingerian realpolitik from its range of policy scenarios tied to
international agreements.

Broadly, that if the world agreed to target 450 parts per million of
carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, we should commit to cutting our
emissions in 2020 by 25 per cent from 2000 levels.

That if the world agreed to target 550ppm, we should aim to cut by 10
per cent. And if there was no agreement we should still aim to cut by 5
per cent.

What could be more realistic than that?

Tying what we did to what the world did. Carefully balancing maximum –
if not optimum – climate outcomes against economic cost to Australia….

That last target though, albeit seemingly small, poses a simple question
that completely undermines the whole report, stripping away the veneer
of hard-nosed realism. Why?

If there was no global agreement – Garnaut actually defines it as the
developed world plus China – why on earth should we still cut?

A course that Garnaut himself estimates would cost the equivalent of 1.3
per cent of GDP in 2020. We would be cutting and hurting ourselves – not
just the overall economy, but people directly with the higher prices
charged for energy – to absolutely no point.

In short, we would still get all the climate impact of rising carbon
emissions, while paying a unique and pointless cost.

Bottom line from Garnaut’s own report? As McCrann notes:

Doing nothing maximises our wealth and income over every other
alternative.

US Voters Are Awake To The Media

Obama has a problem.

September 5 2008

From a Rasmussen poll – and, note, taken before Sarah Palin’s great
speech:

Over half of U.S. voters (51%) think reporters are trying to hurt Sarah
Palin with their news coverage, and 24% say those stories make them more
likely to vote for Republican presidential candidate John McCain in
November.

Again, this is before Palin’s speech. And she’s not running for the top
job, either.

The Fourth Report of the IPCC might just as well decree the
suppression of all climatology textbooks, and replace them in our
schools with press communiqués. … Day after day, the same mantra –
that ‘the Earth is warming up’ – is churned out in all its forms. As
‘the
ice melts’ and ‘sea level rises’ the Apocalypse looms ever nearer!
Without realizing it, or perhaps without wishing to, the average
citizen in bamboozled, lobotomized, and lulled into mindless acceptance.
… Non-believers in the greenhouse scenario are in the
position of those long ago who doubted the existence of God …
Marcel Leroux

It should be abundantly clear by now that the AGW hypothesis is
contradicted by the facts/measurements/observations and should
therefore be abandoned and be substituted by a hypothesis which
better matches the facts.
